Photo shoot

I like this photo as it can look inspirational as though she is looking towards the future and her dreams. Also the lighting is on her face which is making it clear to see her facial expression.

Because my magazine's tone towards the audience isn't looking down at them, this wouldn't work as it looks too smug.

I wouldnt use this photo as it's not looking at the camera which can mean she's not interested and doesn't give the friendliness.

I'm pleased with the result of my photoshoot, i feel the location i took was excellent for the genre of my music magazine, which is pop/dance.

<--- This is one of my favourite pictures i had taken, i would use this for one of the pages for the double paged spreads. I like the angle in which it has been taken from, it gives off a very casual look to it yet very edgy.

<-- This image isn't usable as the model has blinked halfway through the photo being taken.

--->
I like this photo as it looks kind of cheeky and not 'in your face' type of look, this magazine is suppose to be slightly chatty and doesn't look down upon the audience.

Ideas

This was initially my first idea, it was going to be in competition to Kerrange. But i decided that it would be too girly and not the genre or image i wanted to produce. Also my audience would be 16 - 25 and the font of the title of the magazine is too young and bubbly.

This is the second idea which i have chosen, the cover and genre will be more edgy which fits the target audience i want to target 16 - 25. The photoshoot will take place near the town where a wall has been graffitied, i want it taken here because the graffiti emphasises the edgy look i want to create for this magazine. Also the title font isn't bubbly and bright plus the title will reflect the background and echoes throughout which emphasises the genre of this magazine which is retro/pop electronic.

It will be a close up of the artist with graffiti in the background, this will show the personnality of the artist as well.

Research on Mixmag

a, Mixmag is a british clubbing and dance music magazine.

The layout is quite simple, the focal point is the artist being in the middle and the focal point is emphasied by the colour she is wearing contrasts as it is a brighter more vibrant colour compared to the darker purple as the background. The text throughout the front cover is the same as the title, this is creating an echo effect throughout, by doing this it's as though it has created it's own style and no one else has that particular style also making it unique.

By having the background dark it's easier to make the font eligable and clear, also making the artist stand out better.

b, It appeals to the audience by having ' The world's biggest dance music magazine' this would make the audience by it because it is over the world which means it is a great, popular magazine. It would be appealing to a male audience because the front cover is a woman showing off her lingerie, this would make them want to be with her, also by having articles with well known artists such as Gnarls Barkley and Goldfrapp it will make them want to know more about them or be them such as male audience want to be like Gnarls Barkley.

On the other hand female audience would be appealed to this magazine because they look up to Goldfrapp and want to be like her, and by having an article with her, it may be about how she got famous or her beauty tips, so this would make the female audience want to buy it.

c, the house style is mainly the font of the title which stays the same throughout each magazine plus the colour is always white, also having the artist as the main focus with other little articles beside them.
d, It follows the codes and conventions of a magazine with the artist/band as the main focus, the title being at the top of the page big and bold to catch the audiences attention, the articles are not all over the place and over lapping the main focal point, it's well organised and placed appropriately.
